These terms govern any use of the IsItLicensed API or bulk data feed (the “Service”), operated by Harper AI, Inc. (“IsItLicensed, ” “we,” “us”). They are in addition to our Terms of Service.
FCRA prohibition (read this first)
IsItLicensed (Harper AI, Inc.) is NOT a consumer reporting agency, and the Service may not be used for any FCRA-covered purpose. You expressly agree that you will not use the Service, or any data obtained from it, as a factor in establishing any individual’s eligibility for employment, tenancy, credit, insurance, or a government license or benefit, or for any other “permissible purpose” under 15 U.S.C. § 1681b. The Service provides public-license compliance monitoring — alerts when a vendor’s public license, bond, or insurance status changes. It is not a background-check, screening, or hiring-eligibility product, and you may not market it, describe it, or buy keywords for it as one. We may suspend or terminate any account we reasonably believe is using the Service for a prohibited purpose.
Permitted use
- Internal compliance monitoring of vendors and subcontractors you work with.
- Verifying the public license status of a contractor before or during an engagement.
Restrictions
- No resale or redistribution of the data to third parties.
- No caching or storage beyond what is needed for your permitted internal use.
- Respect the published rate limits; do not circumvent them.
- Keep your API key secret; you are responsible for use under your key.
- Do not re-identify, append, or publish any personal information the CSLB withholds.
Accuracy & indemnity
The data is provided “as is,” sourced from the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB), and may be out of date or incomplete. You agree to indemnify IsItLicensed (Harper AI, Inc.) against claims arising from your use of the Service, including any use for a prohibited purpose. On termination, you will delete all data obtained from the Service.
